A Day in the Life of a Supplier Quality Engineer:

Your day kicks off with a cup of coffee. You check your email if suppliers try to contact you and see that there are none. You decide to focus on supplier evaluations.

You contact several suppliers to schedule audits that we want to conduct at their premises. Once you have the days and time nailed down, you update the audit schedule and start preparing the audit plans. You request HR to arrange your flight and hotel for this out-of-town audit.

Around 12:30 it’s time for lunch. We have free lunch right in the ELEO breakroom, or if it’s a nice, sunny day you head outside to catch some rays with your teammates on a lunch walk. And of course, there’s always the opportunity to have lunch at the canteen of the Automotive Campus.

Then it's back to it! You contact a supplier to discuss the status of implementing measures to prevent recurrence of an issue that occurred some time ago. The supplier informs you that he will directly provide you the updated test plans by the afternoon.

Next you and Quality engineer Thijs van Dijk have a meeting with the Manufacturing Engineering team to discuss issues that happened with a test setup at the premises of the supplier that sometimes rejects conforming products. You and Thijs decide the best plan of action is to perform a Measurement System Analysis for this test setup. You schedule a time in your agendas to complete the task before next week’s meeting.

You see that the supplier has provided you with the updated test plans, so you meet with Quality Manager Marco Dek to go over them. Together you decide to approve the updated test plans and inform the supplier it has the green light.

You wrap up your work and it’s time to go home! You had a dynamic and productive day, and got a ton of great work done with your team. Enjoy your evening, and see you tomorrow!
