Eleo outlines more details on integration within Yanmar’s Electrification Unit

After officially embarking on a new phase as integral part of Yanmar’s newly established Electrification Unit, Eleo today announces further details on how this integration will take shape. This strategic move is designed to strengthen Eleo’s role within Yanmar and enhance its battery offerings for off-highway applications.

As part of this integration, Eleo will transition to a dedicated research and development facility within the Electrification Unit. With a stronger focus on R&D, Eleo’s advanced battery expertise and capabilities can be more optimally leveraged across the Yanmar Group, while Eleo can utilize Yanmar’s extensive network of resources and expertise to manufacture & deliver the battery systems on a global scale. This supports Yanmar’s broader vision to offer integrated, zero-emission powertrain solutions across its industrial operations.

By fully integrating Eleo into the Yanmar Group, the company enhances its ability to deliver compact, high-performance battery systems tailored for demanding off-road environments — a growing need among customers seeking cleaner, more efficient equipment. For Yanmar’s customers, this means access to a broader, more advanced range of electrified solutions backed by a global support network.

Organization

The transition will bring changes to Eleo’s scope of operations and organizational structure. As Eleo will serve as a dedicated R&D facility, its existing engineering capabilities will be enhanced, while large-scale production will be relocated to existing facilities within the Yanmar Group. For its R&D activities, the company will continue to operate from its current location in Helmond, with the Eleo brand remaining in place for Yanmar’s battery products.

Marko Dekena, Executive Director and Head of Yanmar’s Electrification Unit, will assume leadership responsibilities for Eleo. The three founders, including current CEO Bas Verkaik, will step aside from their current roles, while supporting Eleo’s transition into the new structure from another role within the organization.

“Three years after we welcomed Yanmar as our majority shareholder, I am happy that we will continue our journey together while we embark on a new chapter for Eleo, said Bas Verkaik. “In an ever more competitive global market, Yanmar’s commitment to electrification is vital to achieve our shared goal of advancing the electrification of the off-highway industry on a global scale. The integration within Yanmar’s Electrification Unit marks a significant new phase for Eleo. While I am excited and convinced about the opportunities this integration brings, we also acknowledge that these changes will impact some of our people and we are dedicated to providing the right support during this transition.”

Marko Dekena, head of Yanmar’s new Electrification Unit: “The full integration of Eleo into Yanmar's Electrification Unit is a testament to the team’s outstanding innovation and R&D capabilities. Eleo has consistently demonstrated its expertise in developing cutting-edge battery solutions, and we are excited to leverage this strength across the entire Yanmar Group. By combining Eleo’s pioneering spirit with Yanmar’s global resources, we can accelerate innovation and drive the electrification of off-highway applications to the next level.”

Yanmar and Eleo are committed to facilitating a smooth transition for employees, clients and partners during this period of change. Further details on the Electrification Unit and Eleo's role will be shared as the integration process continues.
