Multi-million investment gives ambitious Dutch mobility program a flying start

Today the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change announced the allocation of 47 million euros to two large consortia of the Dutch mobility sector, to realize breakthroughs in electrification and hydrogen applications. As part of the electrification consortium, ELEO receives funding to further develop its battery technology and scale-up manufacturing rapidly.

Through cooperation on these innovation programs, the involved parties aim to make the Netherlands a leader in green mobility. The collaborating parties are contributing over 26 million euros of their own funds, bringing the total technological contribution for the sector to 73 million euros.

This national innovative ecosystem is unique thanks to its cross-sectoral collaboration. Under the name Green and Smart Transport Delta, dozens of public and private parties are cooperating intensively, in two innovation programs for the automotive, maritime, and aerospace sectors.

The electrification consortium is a collaboration between Battery Competence Center founding partners VDL Groep, DAF Trucks, ELEO, TNO, Eindhoven University of Technology, and other parties such as NXP Semiconductors, Bosal, Maastricht University, and SME’s.

RAI Automotive Industry NL and Brainport Development are signing on as program management of the consortia for this multiple-year program.
