What will you do as a Financial Controller at ELEO? 

You will be part of the Finance team and you’ll play a key role in further establishing the finance function, thereby enabling ELEO’s international expansion, getting audit ready and making sure that we are financially in control and of course compliant with relevant regulation and reporting standards. The scale-up phase we’re heading to needs more documentation on the way of working and our processes in order to be able to automate them in the next phase. Next to that, an internal control framework needs to be set up and the ERP system needs to be further designed in line with our financial and production processes.   

In your role, you will report directly to the CFO and work closely with the Business Controller, Financial Administrator, and collaborate with the ERP team.  

Next to the building activities described above, your ‘day to day job’ will be overseeing all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting and internal control procedures, to safeguard company assets and optimize financial performance.  

As your job is very versatile, you won’t get bored and there are many opportunities to learn. Though, it requests the combination of being able think conceptually about processes and system design, but also be hands on in implementing the chosen direction/solutions.  

 

As ELEO’s new Financial Controller you will be dealing with: 

  • Prepare and discuss monthly financial performances with our shareholders. 
  • Prepare and manage the annual financial reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to optimize financial resources and mitigate risks. 
  • Manage subsidy programs and WBSO (R&D tax credit) administration, including application processes and compliance documentation. 
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. 
  • Coordinate with internal teams, such as accounting, sales, and operations, to streamline processes and enhance cross-departmental collaboration. 
  • Key user of Odoo (ERP), optimizing processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure that all financial data inputted into Odoo aligns with Dutch GAAP standards. 
  • Set up, prepare for and lead the annual accountant audit process. Coordinate with external auditors, provide necessary documentation, and ensure a smooth audit experience. 

 

Requirements / Background 

  • Enthusiasm for finance, attention to detail, high feeling of responsibility. 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field; RA certification is a plus 
  • A minimum of 5 years in a similar role in a production environment is key, coming from a global operating company is preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including Dutch GAAP 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel 
  • Fluent both written and spoken in English, to have a good understanding of Dutch is a strong plus. 
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating with both the finance and other ELEO teams. 
  • A proactive approach to addressing (potential) issues.
